Silent Night – Dec. 24, 2010

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas!

Listen to Silent Night in English and Spanish.
Noche de Paz
Silent Night (Stille Nacht)

Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor.
Entre sus astros que esparcen su luz
Bella anunciando al niñito Jesús.
Brilla la estrella de paz,
Brilla la estrella de paz.
Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor.
Sólo velan en la oscuridad
Los pastores que en el campo están
Y la estrella de Belén,
Y la estrella de Belén.

Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor.
Sobre el santo niño Jesús
Una estrella esparce su luz,
Brilla sobre el Rey,
Brilla sobre el Rey.

Noche de paz, noche de amor,
Todo duerme en derredor;
Fieles velando allí en Belén
Los pastores, la madre también,
Y la estrella de paz,
Y la estrella de paz.

Video with iPhone and tripod

You might have an iPhone or other way-too-smart phone with video already. If you want even better video, you might consider attaching your “Dick Tracy” device to a tripod to get a steady looking video.

I shot a video the last week of Oct. 2010 to test my iPhone attached to a tripod when I had an opportunity to participate in a seminar funded in part by the Ford Foundation at the Poynter Institute, located in St. Petersburg, Florida. I joined 30 people from around the United States, including international participants, from a mixture of journalism and non-journalism backgrounds, now participating in the media, such as blogging.

Click here to view examples of iPhone video, with and without a tripod, found on my blog.

Minnesota Fall Colors Video

In Blogging, Family, iphone, Minnesota, Minnesota Native Daughter, Travel on September 26, 2010 at 12:46 am

By Jannet Walsh
Duluth, Minnesota

Minnesota’s colors are changing.

My mind races to past family trips to see the changing of the colors along Lake Superior. The weekend expeditions would mean cameras, sweaters, picnic baskets and other gear to make the trip a success.

In keeping with tradition, I headed to Enger Tower Park in Duluth, Minnesota to see colors that are starting to change. This is a five-story observation tower named after Bert Enger, an immigrant from Norway and resident of Duluth. Tower was dedicated by Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Martha of Norway in 1939. There is a panoramic view of Lake Superior and the Duluth area awaiting for you after the climb to the top.
(It was very windy when I made the climb and really wished I was wearing gloves, but was wearing my sweater from Norway.)

I also caught part of an outdoor wedding at the park and heard the Peace Bell Tower from Duluth’s sister city in Japan. There are picnic tables, restrooms and even a stone shelter, not to mention the gardens. Learn more about Enger Park Tower.

Fall Color Report
If you are interested in finding out how the leaves are changing around the state of Minnesota before heading out on a day or weekend trip, go to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the latest updates.

Get out and see the colors of fall!

This is video was created with the iPhone 4.

Please tell me what you think about the video. I amazed by the technology in such a small package!

See related blog about iPhone4 video.

Minnesota Point – Lost Hula Hoop video posted

In Family, Health, Hula Hoop, Minnesota, Minnesota Native Daughter, Travel on September 13, 2010 at 3:29 am

Duluth, Minnesota
My visit to Minnesota Point this weekend reminded me I lost something.

I forgot about a video I shot just after Mother’s Day this year at Minnesota Point, a peninsula or a small island that extends from the Canal Park area of Duluth, Minnesota.

It was snowing on May 7, 2010 when I arrived from Florida, so it was cold for a spring day. Minnesota Point is connected by the Aerial Lift Bridge to the rest of the city of Duluth and has a small airport called Sky Harbor Airport, surrounded by Lake Superior and Superior Bay.

Attached is a video I photographed at the end of Minnesota Point, near the small airport. It was very windy and my head is cropped out in most of the video, so beware!
